We congratulate all the winners and thank all participants for their hard work and enthusiasm, as well as the strong support from the teachers and families. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Thank you and join us for next year’s festival!
We received questions on how to “like” a video, so here’s a step by step on how to do so. We used an old video from last year’s SBF event as an example:
YouTube requires you to sign up for an account first before you “like” a video. This is to prevent spamming.
Step 1. Sign up for a YouTube account by clicking on the “Create Account” on the top right of a YouTube video.

Step 2. While signed in, visit the YouTube video of the team you support.

Step 3. Click on the “Like” icon on the below left of the video to like the video. The number of “likes” for the video would be tallied and displayed if you have done it correctly.

For the number of pageviews, that would be updated by YouTube on a regular basis.
We hope this guide has been useful for you. We thank you for your support of our Science Buskers festival!

A. “How To Be Interesting – incongruity and audience expectation.” by Mr Rhys Thomas
In this exclusive workshop to the Busking Round participants, Mr Rhys Thomas (Professional science performer from U.S.) will be addressing the basics of sparking the public’s interest using costume, performance, and humor. This workshop is specially targeted to help you to perform to your best in the Busking Round.
About Mr Thomas:
With nothing more than a college education and thousands of hours of practice, Rhys taught himself enough juggling, comedy and physics to go from Seattle street performer to international stage sensation. Among his many accolades in 20+ years of performing, Mr Thomas has appeared on worldwide television teaching the mathematics of juggling AND be quoted in The New York Times and Wall Street Journal on the same ecclectic topic, as well as twice representing the U.S. at the Street Theater World Cup in Shizuoka, Japan.

In this workshop, Dr Sow would be showing a few examples on how to make use of simple tools to illustrate interesting scientific phenomena and to engage you in exercises to develop scientific concepts from the demonstrations shown.
About Dr Sow:
Besides being the Assistant Dean (Outreach) at the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, National University of SIngapore, Dr Sow is passionate about performing and explaining science to the public. He manages the Physics Demonstration Lab team and can be seen frequently performing his demos to students and public.
